Here are five albums that will remain in my collection until the day I die! They're all that good, but not one of them is even on Rolling Stone's Top 500 list! Sinful!
My copy of CORYELL is absolutely worn out! I've played it that many times! This 1969 album has some of the best jamming electric guitar you're ever likely to hear, and with Pretty Purdie on drums, Chuck Rainey, Albert Stinson, and Ron Carter on bass, well, let me just say it's amazing! The songs "Sex," "The Jam With Albert," "Elementary Guitar Solo # 5," "No One Really Knows," and "Morning Sickness" are whatever is beyond phenomenal!!
This 1971 debut album by Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks is so fine, I feel sorry for you if you've never heard it! Dan's singing combined with the vocals of Maryann Price and Naomi Ruth Eisenberg is totally legit, and Sid Page's violin work is superlative! This album is timeless!!
This 1972 album by Jim Dickinson is another one I've completely worn out! Brilliant pianist, producer, and Father of The North Mississippi All Stars Cody and Luther Dickinson, Jim Dickinson will never be replaced in the world of music! Forty some years later, and you've still never heard anything that compares to this record I guarantee, it's that unique!
Robert Palmer sadly died from a heart attack at the age of 54, but at least he left us this 1974 album! Joined by the likes of The Meters, Pretty Purdie, and Little Feat members as backing musicians, this is one great record! Who else do you know that can rhyme Julia, peculia, and fool ya and get away with it brilliantly? I love this record!
No, I'm not stuck in the 60's and 70's although sometimes it feels like it! It was hard picking out which of XTC's records to put on this list! They're all great, but I decided on the 1982 double album English Settlement! It's not very many bands that can make a killer record from start to finish, and there are even fewer that can do it on a double album, but XTC managed to do it without a problem! They're that good!

The REAL 500 Best Albums Of All TIme (In My Humble Opinion) Part 3 of 100 (The Devil"s Advocate)
Time to play the devils advocate! Sometimes a great album is defined by where your head was at the particular time you heard it! If it stands up to multiple listenings and still has that effect, then you just might have yourself a winner!
I think I can add at least one album on the merits of it's cover! The first time I saw and heard this Deviants album I was blown away! My opinion still stands! Best scat drum solo ever! Humour plays a big part in a lot of my choices! I don't only want good music, I want a good laugh too!
Rolling Stone has two albums by Z Z Top on their top 500! Savoy Brown blows them out of the water in the blues boogie band department, and Kim Simmonds is one of THE best guitarists of all time! I could listen to this record every day and never get tired of it!
Maybe you just had to be there, but if you take any mind altering drugs, and listen to this record by The Holy Modal Rounders, you'll surely agree it needs to be on the list!
Jimi said "you'll never listen to surf music again" but he obviously never heard this album by The Rumblers or I'm sure he would have had a different opinion! I think the only surf albums on the Rolling Stone's list are by The Beach Boys! Sorry, that doesn't quite get it! Surf music with sax, is BOSS!!
When I first bought this album, I couldn't believe somebody would actually make an album this pure! With classics like "Boobs A Lot," "I Feel Like Homemade Shit," and "Nada" on it, The Fugs First Album deserves way more attention that nine Bruce Springsteen albums combined!

The REAL 500 Best Albums Of All TIme (In My Humble Opinion) Part 2 of 100
I was recently looking at Rolling Stone's list of the best 500 albums of
all time, and it really yanked my chain around for various reasons, so I
decided to make my own list! Unlike Rolling Stone, on my list there
will be no 'Greatest Hits' records, there will be no Bruce Springsteen
records, there won't be any Kiss records, and there won't be any rap
albums! MY list will only include timeless albums that were great the
first time you heard them, and will still be music to your ears when you
become a grandparent! My list will not be in any specific order, #1
will have the same status as #500, as they randomly come into my head. I
think Rolling Stone got maybe about half of them right!
Here are five double albums that are on Rolling Stones' Top 500 list that I wholeheartedly agree with!
Derek and the Dominoes - Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs (The complementing guitars of Clapton and Duane Allman never gets old or tired)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland! (One of THE best records ever made without a doubt)
The Minutemen - Double Nickels On The Dime (Probably the best thing that ever happened in the 80's)
The Mothers Of Invention - Freak Out! (Still amazing almost 50 years later)
The Clash - London Calling (One of my favorite records, period! It's like a history of Rock and Roll)

(Which means it might never get finished!)

Sometimes I Don't Even Believe What I Have!
Having one blog is a lot of work, two is just a bit too much, and three is pure insanity if you plan on regular postings
